Although it's still August you can occasionally feel a *hint* of fall in the air. Patrick's first soccer practice was Tuesday night (also Owen's birthday and the first day back to school - a busy day!) - and I swear the breeze had just the slightest hint of coolness in it. Same for yesterday morning, low humidity and a breeze with a coolness about it - can you tell I'm looking forward to fall??
Yes, the kids are back in school - can't believe Hannah's a fifth grader! She signed up to be a "bus buddy" at school - so we have to have her at school by 7:20 (school starts at 8am) and she patrols the area outside Patrick's 2nd grade classroom (she picked his class to monitor) from 7:20 'til 7:50 to make sure the kids are quiet and orderly as they arrive for school. So instead of getting up at 6:45 and heading to school at 7:30 we're up at 6:25 and head to school about 10 after 7 - good thing we live so close!
I have to tell you what's on the outside cooker boiling away right now - PEANUTS!!! Owen's friend Stephen planted peanuts on his land this year. And despite everyone telling him that it would never work, nobody grows peanuts up here, the soil's not right, etc....he had a very successful crop. So Owen, Hannah & Patrick headed out yesterday to pull up and pick peanuts:
Owen took these pictures with his birthday present - a new Canon D10 - a waterproof camera. It's 12.1 megapixels and will be the perfect thing for him - his last point and shoot suffered from "salt water immersion" when he fell in Charleston Harbor with his phone and camera in his pocket. Now we don't have to worry about that happening with this new camera. It's waterproof up to 33 feet! And it fits in his pocket - the perfect birthday gift!
Gearing up for Hannah's birthday - can't believe our sweet baby will be 10 in a week! Surely that's not possible! Many of you know what her "big" surprise is - can't wait to give it to her - and for those of you who don't know - sorry for the teaser, LOL! You'll just have to wait - I definitely don't want Hannah to see this post and find out before she's supposed to!
Hope everyone's having a great summer - if you haven't headed back to school yet enjoy the time you have left!
Hugs!
Cathy
