Rain, Rain....

Don't Go Away!!! It's raining here.... The headline this past Monday in our newspaper read "Only 300 more days of water" left in Lake Hartwell (see pics I posted previously). But today we're finally getting some rain - not the rain we need - the Lake's down over 20 feet - but we have gotten some rain - and it's supposed to continue through the night and into tomorrow. We can all hope!

Owen said when he was travelling back from Seneca through Clemson you can see part of the old Highway 93 - which was covered when they flooded the area to create Lake Hartwell. The Lake levels are down so low that the old roadway and bridge are now exposed. Lake Hartwell has over 900 miles of shoreline - and only one ramp left to put the boat in the water....sad that we have a boat and couldn't use it if we wanted to :(.

People who've lived here all their lives say the lake was low back in the 80's - not as low as it is now - but low nevertheless. And a very wet spring filled the lake back up. So I guess there's still something to look forward to.

That's why when it rains around here we never complain!

It's been a busy week - didn't realize it had been so long since I'd last posted. We're all doing well - the kids are very busy with school - if it's not homework then it's after school activities. Hannah's having her first intersquad meet in Gymnastics this Saturday. From Jan - March we'll make a few trips to neighboring gyms for competitions. One of them is in Athens at UGA to watch the "Gym Dawgs" compete against the University of Michigan. I'd really like to travel to that meet - I think it would be really cool to see a "big time" gymnastics competition.

Patrick & Hannah both had their well child visits this week - Patrick went on Monday. His projected height is 5'8", give or take about 2" - hopefully he'll gain 2"! Hannah's projected height is 5'1"; which, believe it or not, is shorter than me! Her Doctor said she'll be the perfect size for doing gymnastics. Both are doing well - they even got their flu shots without any trouble! Patrick very proudly told me that he even watched while they gave him the shot!

Sharing a ramdom conversation I overheard:

Owen & Patrick we're playing a fierce game of Foosball. Owen was beating Patrick pretty soundly. Patrick said:

"Daddy!!! You're beating me like Florida beating Kentucky!!!"

For those of you who don't know we Florida beat Kentucky 2 weeks ago - the score was 63-5! Of course our Georgia Bulldogs didn't fare much better against Floriday - they lost 49-10.

Tomorrow is "Football Saturday" - Clemson plays Duke at 12:00 and Georgia plays Auburn at 12:30. How are we going to manage to watch both games? Thank Goodness for the DVR!!!
